Nathaniel R. Whitney – Principal

Mr. Whitney has over 40 years of experience in all facets of the IVD industry. His experience in China dates back to 1983, when he was the Asia Technology Marketing Manager for Corning Glass Works, Medical Division, transferring technology for clinical analyzers to China. Mr. Whitney has held numerous management positions in R&D, manufacturing, and international marketing at Ciba Corning Diagnostics/Chiron/Bayer (now Siemens). He also owned a Chinese distribution (medical imaging) and consulting businesses with offices in Beijing and Boston. Mr. Whitney is owner and President of Whitney Research, exclusively focused on the Chinese IVD market, providing general and customized market research for manufacturers, major research firms, investment groups and NGOs. Whitney Research profiles and tracks performance of more than 325 Chinese IVD companies, as well as the top multinationals selling in China. His clients include Goldman Sachs, Gerson Lehrman Group, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics and some of the leading manufacturers in the IVD industry in the United States and Europe. Mr. Whitney has also presented at numerous conferences hosted by Gerson Lehrman Group, China Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) and was the featured speaker on China at American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) IMB for three years. He remains on the organizing committee for IMB. As the Chinese agent for the AACC Clinical Lab Expo, Whitney Research has grown the participation of Chinese companies both in numbers and expansion of booths to 63 companies in 2011 only surpassed by US companies. Mr. Whitney graduated with high honors from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in Chemical Engineering.
