Dr. Thayer has 25 years experience working in healthcare-related fields specializing in Neuropsychology and Geriatric Psychology. She is a licensed psychologist with a private practice conducting diagnostic assessments and recommending treatment for adults with dementia, cerebrovascular disease, head trauma, various CNS disorders, and concomitant psychiatric illness, such and depression and anxiety. Dr. Thayer has held hospital privileges for 10 years and retains contracts to provide outpatient neuropsychological services. Her prior experience has included neuropsychological, psychological, and functional assessments for dementia patients participating in phase II clinical drug trials for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and consulting and instruction for the Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Thayer completed internship training at the University of California, San Francisco Memory and Alzheimer’s Clinic, the Psychology Internship program at the VA Medical Center, Palo Alto (APA-approved), and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Martinez (APA-approved). She started her career in healthcare as a Music Therapist with training at the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute at the University of California, San Francisco. She has a BM in Music Therapy from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, a MS in Counseling Psychology from California State University at Hayward, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, California.
