Howard S. Robin, MD – Principal

Dr. Robin has nearly 35 years experience as a practicing pathologist, commercial and hospital laboratory director, and consultant to the diagnostic laboratory industry. He is currently the Medical Director of the Office of CME for Sharp Health Care in San Diego and serves on the Board of Directors of the Sharp HealthCare Foundation. Dr. Robin is the former Chairman of the Department of Pathology/Medical Director of the clinical laboratories at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego; has directed the chemistry, immunology and transfusion center at Sharp Memorial Hospital; and is the immediate past president of the board of directors of the San Diego Blood Bank. He conducted CAP inspections for 25 years meeting the obligation of medical directors of CAP accredited labs to inspect other labs of similar size and complexity at least every two years. As required by CAP, Dr. Robin completed a competency test in CAP requirements, and he also trained other pathologists and CLS to become surveyors. As team leader, Dr. Robin was responsible for picking specialists to examine each lab discipline and was the ultimate arbiter for compliance with the CAP requirements. He received his MD degree and residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was a research fellow in Molecular Immunology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Immunopathology. Dr. Robin is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the Association of American Blood Banks, the American Association of Clinical Chemists, the California Association of Pathologists, the Association of Continuing Medical Education, and the California Blood Bank Society.
