Cyrena Valladares, MBA – Principal

Ms. Valladares has over 15 years of broad commercial experience in the biotech and life sciences industries, including specific expertise related to commercializing companion diagnostics for targeted therapies. She held commercial roles across several functions at Genentech, Inc. including Market Research and Forecasting, New Product Marketing, Brand (Oncology) Management, and Reimbursement/Patient Assistance Programs. In her role on the Herceptin Marketing team, Ms. Valladares served as HER2 diagnostics development team leader and led the commercial launch of the second FDA-approved HER2 test (FISH-based) to determine patient eligibility for treatment with Herceptin. She also served on Genentech’s Long-Term Diagnostic Task Force, an executive team responsible for establishing vision and infrastructure to evaluate the need for, and develop, companion diagnostics early in product life-cycle planning. Her oncology experience also includes leading a commercial team focused on a line extension for Rituxan. During her tenure with Genentech, she held commercial leadership roles for various late stage development projects, including serving on joint teams with external development partners. She contributed to projects across six different disease areas and at stages spanning the product life cycle, from clinical assessments through post-marketing studies. Earlier in her career, Ms. Valladares served in a corporate strategic planning role at Corning, Inc. and led market assessments for life science technologies. Prior to her commercial experience, Ms. Valladares worked in a Bacteriology lab at New York State Diagnostic Labs, Cornell University’s Veterinary College. She holds a BS in Microbiology from Cornell University, and an MBA from Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University, both in Ithaca, New York.
