Brian D. Warner, PhD – Principal

Dr. Warner has over 25 years of experience in technology assessment and diagnostic product development. He is currently employed by the Immunocytometry Systems division of BD Biosciences in the Advanced Technology Group where he is Senior Staff Scientist. His research interests span chemistry, biology and system engineering, and he still performs much of the laboratory work for his projects. Dr. Warner previously worked at Investigen DNA Biotechnologies as Vice President of Systems Engineering where he directed development of a novel molecular detection technology for point of care testing. Prior to that, he was Senior Manager and Head of Chemistry and Technology Research within Molecular Testing segment of Bayer Diagnostics, where he directed research on development of multiplex DNA testing chemistries and systems. While at the Chiron Corporation, he was involved in the early development of automated systems for DNA synthesis, which enabled development of branched DNA or “bDNA” viral load assays of which he is a co-inventor. Dr. Warner also contributed to the development of the systems for performing those assays. He completed his BS in Chemistry at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois and his PhD in Chemistry at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington. He has published on both chemistry and instrumentation topics and has been awarded 25 US patents.
